Gibanica

Gibanica je u Srbiji jedno od najomiljenijih jela. Sprema se brzo i lako i obavezni je deo trpeze skoro svakog slavlja na ovim prostorima. To je vrsta pite koja se pravi iskljucivo sa sirom i to kravljim koji je veoma specificnog ukusa i cesto je nepoznat ljudima koji zive van Balkana. Specijalitet ovih krajeva je gibanica "guzvara". Osim prve kore, ostale se natapaju u nadev od sira, jaja i vode, "guzvaju" i tako redjaju u tepsiju gde se posle peku.

Gibanica is one of Serbia's favourite dishes. It's made up quickly and easily and it's served at almost every celebration in this region. It is kind of a cheese pie made with cow cheese which has a very specific flavor and it's often unknown to people who aren't living on Balkan.



Kako se pravi?

* Priprema fila
Stavite sir u dublju posudu, dodajte jaja i mesajuci sjedinite sastojke. Zatim dodajte pavlaku, so i mineralnu vodu mesajuci sve vreme.

Pripremite dublji pleh i dobro ga podmazite. Na dno pleha stavite dva lista kora za gibanicu tako da krajevi kora obloze i ivice pleha. Pojedinacno guzvajuci listove kora popunite dno pleha i zatim prelijte naguzvane kore pripremljenim filom. Ceo postupak guzvanja kora i prelivanja filom ponavljajte dok ne iskoristite preostale sastojke. Postupak zavrsite prekrivanjem dva lista kora za gibanicu. Pre pecenja premazite gibanicu sa malo mineralne vode i ulja i pecite oko 1h u vec zagrejanoj rerni na 200stepeni.

Sastojci (za 6 osoba):
500g kora za gibanicu
5 jaja
200ml pavlake
500g kravljeg sira
4dl mineralne vode
ulje

How it's made?

*Filling
Put the cheese in a deep bowl, add eggs and mix it all together. Then add sour cream, salt and mineral water.

Prepare a deeper, well oiled baking dish. At the bottom of the baking dish put two layers of phyllo dough. Then crumple a few phyllo sheets to fill the bottom of the baking dish and pour them with filling. Continue with this pattern until you've used all the ingredients up. Complete the procees by putting two layers of phyllo on top and sprinkle it with oil. Bake for about an hour in the preheated oven at 200 degrees.

500g phyllo dough
5 eggs
200ml sour cream
500g cheese
2 cups (4dl) mineral water
oil
salt

Proja - Cornbread

Proja je kukuruzni hleb, pravi se od krupno mlevenog kukuruznog brasna, soli i vode. Cesto se mesa sa projanicom (projarom) koja pored kukuruznog ima i psenicnog brasna i najcesce se pravi sa sirom. Takodje moze da se pravi i sa spanacem, krastavcem, parizerom, jogurtom...

Proja (cornbread) is one of the traditional Serbian dishes. It's made from cornmeal (coarsely ground), salt and water. Optionally you can add chesse, spinach, cucumber, yogurt





Kako se pravi?
Najpre se sir izmrvi i onda se zajedno sa jajima umuti mikserom. Zatim se dodaje ulje, voda, prasak za pecivo i na kraju kukuruzno brasno. Svi sastojci se sjedine i izliju u prethodno nauljen pleh ili kalupe za mafine. Pece se na 200 stepeni, 20 minuta do pola sata.

Sastojci: (za 6 osoba)
4 jaja
300g feta sira
1 casa (2dl) ulja
1 casa (2dl) kisele vode
1 prasak za pecivo
4 soljice kukuruznog brasna


How it's made?
You should start by whisking eggs and then add crumbled cheese and mix it all together. After that add oil, water, baking powder and finally corn flour. When all the ingredients are combined pour the mass in oiled pan or baking molds. Bake at 200 degrees for 20-30 minutes.

300g greek cheese
1 cup (2dl) oil
1 cup (2dl) carbonated water
1 baking powder
4 cups of corn flour

Pljeskavica

Tradicionalno srpsko jelo od mlevenog mesa (svinjetine, jagnjetine, govedine/teletine) peceno na rostilju. Vrsta pljeskavice zavisi od lokacije gde je spremana. Luk i beli luk se ne stavljaju u tradicionalnu pljeskavicu. Najpoznatije u Srbji su Leskovacka pljeskavica koja je po obicaju ljuto zacinjena i sprema se od mlevene svinjetine ili govedine i Gurmanska pljeskavica koja sadrzi kackavalj ili slaninu i sunku zajedno sa sitno iseckanim ljutim paprikama.


National Serbian dish made of various ground meat (pork, lamb,beef/veal) shaped into a patty. Traditional pljeskavica is made without onions and garlic. There are many varieties of pljeskavica. Most famous are Leskovacka pljeskavica which is usually made of pork or beef and it's very spicy and Gurmanska pljeskavica which contains cheese or bacon and ham and chili peppers.




Kako se pravi?
Pre pecenja, mleveno meso se cesto izmesa sa ljutim papricicama, sitno iseckanim crnim lukom, biberom i drugim zacinima. Od pripremljene smese oblikuju se okrugle pljeskavice debljine oko 1cm koje se peku na rostilju. Kada je gotova moze biti posluzena u somunu ili lepinji uz raznovrsne priloge poput povrca, pavlake, kecapa, senfa, majoneza ili na tanjiru uz crni luk ili pomfrit.

700g  mlevenog svinjskog mesa
300g mlevenog govedjeg mesa
100g naseckanog crnog luka
2 ljute papricice

How it's made?
Before grilling, ground meat is often mixed with chili peppers, finely chopped onion, pepper and other spices. From prepared mixture form round patties about 1cm thick and grill them. When it's done you can serve them in pita bread with a variety of side dishes, such as vegetables, sour cream, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise or on a plate with onions and fries.

300g minced beef

World famous - Sandwich

Sendvic - najpopularniji obrok na svetu, hrana sacinjena od jedne ili dve kriske hleba sa jednim ili vise slojeva namirnica.
Prica se da je dobio ime po Johnu Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich, engleskom lordu iz 18 veka, koji je bio strastveni kockar. Igrao je satima bez prestanka pa je jednom prilikom naredio svom slugi da mu donese parce govedine izmedju dva parceta hleba da bi mogao raditi dve stvari u isto vreme - kartati se i jesti, a da ne uprlja karte. Vremenom su i njegovi protivnici za stolom poceli da narucuju sendvice pa je taj naziv i ostao.

Sandwich - most popular snack in the world, it's made out of one or two slices of bread with one or more layers of food.
The story goes that it was named after John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich, english lord from the 18th century, who was very passionate gambler. He played for hours without stopping, so he once ordered his servant to bring him a slice of beef between two slices of bread so he could do two things at once - play cards and eat without getting them dirty. Over time his opponents at the table began ordering sandwiches and so the name stayed.


Lord Sandwich
